Jedermann Tour – a race for everyone

The roads belong to you at the finale of the Deutschland Tour. For the first time, the Baden-Würrtemberg state capital will host the start and finish of a Jedermann race – making the motto „Region Stuttgart. Deine Tour.“ (Stuttgart Region. Your Tour) become a reality. Before the pros start the fourth stage in and around Stuttgart on Sunday, August 26, the Deutschland Tour’s Jedermann Tour, a race for everyone, will take place.

Stuttgart offers great stage for hobby riders

Under the motto “Region Stuttgart. Deine Tour”, about 3000 hobby riders took to the two different courses around the Baden-Württemberg capital city on Sunday morning before the final stage of the pro race. The short course of 57.5 km was won by Lennart Jasper of Rose Team Münsterland and by Svenja De Buhr of RSV Heidelberg, the longer course of  117.5 km by Kai Miebach of Team Strasssacker 2. and by Kerstin Pöhl of RSV Stutttgart-Vaihingen/Passione Bici Girls.

The hobby riders could choose between the shorter “Weinbergrunde“ (57,5 Kilometer with  686 climbing meters) and a “Runde durch die Region Stuttgart“ (117,5 Kilometer with 1.339 climbing meters). Both courses ended on the Theodor-Heuss Straße, which was also the finish line for the Elite race.

On the Weinbergrunde, Jasper won after 1:32:13, with second going only three seconds later to Willi Bruckbauer (Team Bora & Friends), the founder of the Bora company and sponsor of the German WorldTour team. Third place went to Boris Ludwig of SG Stern Stuttgart.

The longer “Runde durch die Region Stuttgart” was long dominated by a break group, from which five riders sprinted for the win . Mieback won with a time of 2:53:21 ahead of Maximilian Hornung (Hermann Radteam) and Valentin Szalay (BKK Mobil Oil Cycling Team).

Everything was super organized and the course perfectly secured. The police did a good job. Plus the resonance was great, there were many more fans along the courses than expected. It was an all-around successful event,” said Jan Schlichenmaier, one of the two race directors. For Stuttgart, it was also a premiere: The regional capital  never before hosted the start and finish of  a Jedermann race.
