The Deutschland Tour has started up again – with a new concept and as part of a big Cycling Festival. Bigger and more colorful than ever. From August 29th to September 1st, the Deutschland Tour 2019 connected German cities and regions with four challenging and varied stages, and ended with the big finale in Thuringia.
Shortly after the finale of the new Deutschland Tour, the organizer can draw a positive conclusion. The four day stage race, which started in Koblenz and ended in Stuttgart, drew a lot of attention from fans along the 737 km course and more than fulfilled all expectations. In addition to the pro race, the many other activities and attractions brought about a real cycling festival, which was received with much enthusiasm in the stage towns.
“The new edition of the Deutschland Tour was a full success. From a sporting point, we had exciting decisions and an open race up to the end – exactly what we hoped for when we planned the course. The riders join us, the organizers, in being happy with so much response from the fans. From the spectacular team presentation on the Deutschen Eck in Koblenz up to the finale on the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart, we sent some beautiful pictures from Germany around the world,” Rach added.
Next year the Deutschland Tour will again register with the UCI for the last August weekend. The international federation is expected to publish its 2019 race calendar the end of September. “The timing proved itself to be good. When so many of the world’s best GC riders, so many WorldTour teams and the elite German riders decide for the Deutschland Tour, then these dates fit perfectly in the season planning,” said Claude Rach.
