ADAC Cycling Tour draws 2,000 riders in Magdeburg
August 24th, 2025
Magdeburg turned into a cycling festival today as around 2,000 amateur riders took part in the ADAC Cycling Tour. In perfect conditions and on fully closed, car-free roads, participants enjoyed a rare chance to ride at race pace through the city and surrounding countryside. The finish on the Schleinufer – the same stage where the pros of the Lidl Deutschland Tour would later battle for overall victory – provided the perfect backdrop for the celebrations. The event continues to grow, with participation up from 1,800 riders in Saarbrücken last year.
The longer Großer Börde Loop challenged 1,300 cyclists with a 118.7-kilometer course. After starting on the Sternbrücke, riders were sent onto the normally traffic-filled Magdeburger Ring before heading west into the surrounding region. The return to the Elbe included 32 kilometers along the official pro route. In the men’s race, Benjamin Ahrendt sprinted to victory in 2:46:18, while Anette Ostermann was the fastest woman, finishing in 2:57:40.
Another 700 cyclists opted for the Kleiner Börde Loop, covering 48.6 kilometers to Wanzleben and back. Matthias Hahn (Team Gute Laune Sport) claimed the men’s win in 1:07:13, with Linda Striebing (Rothai Bikestore Lawi) taking the women’s title in 1:15:54.
