The Lidl Deutschland Tour 2026 will once again stop in Rhineland-Palatinate: with Offenbach an der Queich as the finish of Stage 2 on Friday, 21 August, and Bad Dürkheim as the finish of Stage 3 on Saturday, 22 August, the Southern Palatinate takes centre stage at Germany's most prestigious stage race.
The A.S.O. Germany race thereby brings international top-level sport back to a region that has already demonstrated its passion for cycling in previous years. While the peloton sprints for the stage victory in Offenbach an der Queich on Friday, fans in Bad Dürkheim can look forward to a hopefully tight finish the following day after an exciting stage.
At the heart of the announcement is the renewed inclusion of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the Lidl Deutschland Tour. Minister-President Alexander Schweitzer, together with Minister of Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt and Minister of the Interior Michael Ebling, jointly emphasise the significance of the event: "The Lidl Deutschland Tour is a sporting flagship with international appeal. The fact that Rhineland-Palatinate will once again be part of this important cycle race in 2026 underlines the attractiveness of our state as a host of major sporting events. The stages in the Southern Palatinate and in Bad Dürkheim also show how closely sport, tourism and regional development are intertwined. Events like these not only strengthen cycling but also put our regions in the spotlight as vibrant, welcoming and capable locations. Together with our municipalities and partners, we look forward to welcoming many visitors and presenting our state as modern, hospitable and high-performing."
Enthusiasm is equally high at the regional level. The District Administrator of Südliche Weinstraße, Dietmar Seefeldt, and Offenbach's Mayor Simon Wingerter state: "With the Lidl Deutschland Tour, top-level professional cycling returns to our district this summer following its premiere in 2024, now coming to Offenbach an der Queich. We are proud to present this up-and-coming municipality and our unique, welcoming holiday region to a nationwide audience. Both in sporting and tourism terms, we will benefit from this major event and look forward to welcoming many guests."
In Bad Dürkheim, the race continues on 22 August with a stage finish in the heart of the wine region. Mayor Natalie Bauernschmitt says: "I am very pleased that Bad Dürkheim is the finish town of a stage of the Deutschland Tour. For our town, it is something special to be able to welcome such a prestigious cycle race. The riders of the Newcomer Tour and the professional cyclists will arrive in a region known for its vineyards, its nature and its distinctive atmosphere. At the same time, the Tour is a wonderful opportunity to present Bad Dürkheim as a vibrant event destination."
District Administrator Hans-Ulrich Ihlenfeld (Bad Dürkheim district) also highlights the significance: "I am very pleased that the Deutschland Tour will pass through our Bad Dürkheim district this year. It is a wonderful opportunity to introduce our region to a wide audience. Along the route, the beauty of our landscape reveals itself — from the Palatinate Forest to the sun-drenched vineyards. Add to that the warmth and hospitality of the local people."
The Lidl Deutschland Tour is Germany's most prestigious stage race and brings together world-class teams, youth races and a wide-ranging supporting programme for amateur cyclists and families. With its stage venues in Rhineland-Palatinate, the race once again underlines its ambition to combine sporting excellence with regional diversity. Following the stages in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2026 will conclude with the final in Heilbronn.
