Sunday, August 23rd, 4th stage: Heilbronn > Heilbronn – Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) won stage 4 of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2026 on Sunday. The Frenchman prevailed in a sprint finish after 156.5 kilometres around Heilbronn, ahead of Danny van Poppel (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) and Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek). Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) secured overall victory, successfully defending the blue jersey.
The first regular stage in the history of the Deutschland Tour to start and finish in the same city was shaped for long stretches by a breakaway group. Miguel Heidemann (REMBE | rad-net) and Ben Felix Jochum (Team Lotto Kern-Haus Outlet Montabaur) were once again part of the escape. Heidemann, who had spent numerous kilometres at the front of the race on previous days, went on the offensive once more in the finale. With further points at the mountain sprints, he sealed overall victory in the mountains classification.
The lead group held its advantage deep into the finale. It was not until 14.2 kilometres from the finish that the peloton reeled in the last escapees. Team Visma | Lease a Bike then lifted the pace, attempting to create one more opportunity for overall runner-up Louis Barré.
But Isaac del Toro had the race under control. With 12.3 kilometres remaining, the wearer of the blue jersey attacked on the final climb and rode clear of the peloton. The Mexican carried a small lead towards Heilbronn and looked set for a spectacular solo victory for much of the finale.
Del Toro was caught again shortly before the finish. In the ensuing sprint, Soudal Quick-Step demonstrated its strength: Paul Magnier held off van Poppel and Teutenberg to take the win, claiming his second victory in Germany within a week following his triumph at the ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg
Del Toro finished with the main peloton to be crowned overall winner of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2026. Louis Barré finished second overall, 53 seconds behind, with Marc Hirschi (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) completing the podium in third place. This brought to a close five days of racing, from the prologue in Bad Orb to the grand finale in Heilbronn.
