RAIN-SOAKED RIDE INTO THE PALATINATE: ALESSIO MAGAGNOTTI WINS STAGE 2 OF THE LIDL DEUTSCHLAND TOUR 2026

Friday, August 21st, 2nd stage: Schwäbisch Hall > Offenbach an der Queich  – Alessio Magagnotti (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe) has won stage 2 of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2026. After 196.9 kilometres from Schwäbisch Hall to Offenbach an der Queich, the 19-year-old Italian prevailed in the sprint ahead of Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step). Iúri Leitão (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) completed the podium in third. For much of the stage, the race was shaped by a breakaway of three riders. Ole Theiler (REMBE | rad-net), Álvaro Sagrado (Storck – MRW Bau) and Ben Felix Jochum (Lotto Kern-Haus Outlet Montabaur) broke clear of the peloton early on and dictated the picture at the front for long stretches. Behind them, the sprinters' teams largely controlled the pace and kept the gap from growing decisively. The move paid off again for Ole Theiler: the German collected valuable points in the mountains classification, ensuring that REMBE | rad-net will also wear the King of the Mountains jersey on stage 3. In the general classification, Louis Barré (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) retains the race lead following his solo win the previous day. Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) was able to close the gap on the Frenchman through bonus seconds, however, keeping the battle for overall victory open ahead of a demanding weekend.
